Steven Spielberg may be departing the Indiana Jones franchise after directing all four films so far, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Director James Mangold, whose film Ford Vs. Ferrari was nominated for a ‘Best Picture’ Academy Award this year, is reportedly in talks to take Spielberg’s place as director of the upcoming fifth Indiana Jones film.
Mangold directed acclaimed comic book film Logan and its immediate predecessor The Wolverine.
The officially untitled Indiana Jones 5 is in pre-production for a July 9, 2021 theatrical release. Harrison Ford will reprise his role as the venerable archaeologist and adventurer.
