Dark Horse Comics has publicly said it will not be working with writer Brian Wood on any “new projects,” and that the upcoming Aliens Colonial Marines: Rising Threat ongoing title has been cannceled. The statement came in response to The Beat reaching out to the publisher for comment following a public accusation that Wood forcibly kissed entertainment reporter Laura Hudson.
“Effective immediately, Dark Horse will not pursue any new projects with Brian Wood,” Dark Horse said in a statement to The Beat. “Dark Horse has cancelled the upcoming series Aliens Colonial Marines: Rising Threat.”
On August 30, Hudson tweeted the allegation against Wood in a longer Twitter thread.
“His name was Brian Wood and I worshipped him at the time (he wrote so many strong female characters!!!). If you think this is going to go badly, you’re correct. I went into a bar with him and he grabbed me he forced me into a kiss,” Hudson’s tweet reads.
Aliens Colonial Marines: Rising Threat was scheduled to debut September 18. The publisher has solicited collections of several of Wood’s creator-owned projects for a fall release, as well as the final issue of Aliens: Rescue in October.
