Mindy Kaling says she has spoken with Marvel about a possible Ms. Marvel adaptation to film or television, and is openly volunteering to be a part of any such project.
“I think the people I’ve spoken to at Marvel about it are so excited about the character, and I think that they’re trying to figure out what to do with it, and I told them I would help in any way, because I truly love her,” the writer/actor/producer told MTV News. “But they seemed really interested, and I think they will probably do something.”
For casting, Kaling says the she thinks “an unknown” should play Kamala Khan – and that the Disney+ service might be a good place for a Ms. Marvel project.
“Now that there’s, like, this streaming platform with them, it might be something like that, but I think they understand how much there is… the excitement, you know,” Kaling said. “Riz [Ahmed], me, every different Desi actor was very excited.”
Kaling is a cartoonist herself, having written and drawn Badly Drawn Girl for Dartmouth College’s newspaper from 1999 to 2001.
